TOP FIVE COMEDY SHOWS 5/30/2023

Looking for the best comedy in Atlanta? Then we’ve got you covered. While VSP does not have shows every week, that doesn't mean something hilarious isn't happening in Atlanta. In fact, we compiled our list of the top five funniest shows this weekend. Check out any one of these for a great time, and be on the lookout for our next big event.

EDDIE GRIFFIN

Eddie Griffin has built an ever-growing fan base. His Stand-Up Comedy Specials have received rave reviews, including, Dysfunktional Family (2003), Comedy Central’s You Can Tell ‘Em I Said It (2011), and the Showtime Special Undeniable (2018). Comedy Central has honored Eddie as one of the Top 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of all time.

As an actor, Eddie Griffin has appeared in over 50 films such films as The Last Boy Scout (1991), Coneheads (1993), Armageddon (1998), Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999), and A Star is Born (2018). His most notable film role was Anton Jackson in Undercover Brother (2002). Eddie was nominated (1996) and won (2000) the NAACP Image Award for Best Actor in his own hit comedy series Malcolm and Eddie (1996-2000). Currently, Eddie can be found performing his weekly Las Vegas Residency, The Eddie Griffin Experience at the Sahara Hotel and Casino


FELIPE ESPARZA

Felipe Esparza is performing at The Atlanta Punchline. He is a comedian and actor, best known for his raw, real-life comedy that audiences everywhere can relate to. Known for his wild hair and his often-imitated phrase, “what’s up, fool?”, people are often surprised to find out that Felipe is also the same person referred to and imitated by in several infamous stories by fellow comedian, Gabriel Iglesias. Felipe won NBC’s Last Comic Standing (2010) and is currently touring comedy clubs and theaters across the country. His first one-hour stand-up special, “They’re Not Gonna Laugh at You”, premiered on Showtime in 2012 and is now available on DVD and streaming on Netflix.

STUCK IN HERE

The incredible duo of Ian Covell and Josh Warren takes you on a hilarious improvised ride at Dynamic El Dorado.

Ian Covell - was a main stage performer and improv teacher at The Village Theatre. In 2012 he left to create his own improv comedy school, Highwire Comedy Co. Covell has been in a number of projects including roles in FOX's "The Resident", Jon Stewart's sophomore film, "Irresistible", and Marvel's "Falcon and the Winter Soldier".

Josh Warren - Josh trained in improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade, and was the Associate Artistic Director of the Village Theatre. He can be seen in such projects as Footloose, Righteous Gemstones, The Valet, The Georgetown Project.
