TOP FIVE COMEDY SHOWS 5/16/2023
Atlanta has one of the best comedy scenes in the world, and while VSP does not have shows every week, that doesn't mean something hilarious isn't happening in Atlanta. In fact, we compiled our list of the top five funniest shows this weekend. Check out any one of these for a great time, and be on the lookout for our next big event.
ADAM RAY
Adam Ray currently plays the iconic role of Vince McMahon in YOUNG ROCK for NBC, the story of Dwanye "The Rock" Johson's life. Ray most recently was seen in HACKS on HBOMAX, and starred in the indie comedy THE BELLMEN, also starring Thomas Lennon and Richard Kind. Ray also guest starred on the last season of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT for Netflix, as well as season 2 of AMERICAN VANDAL. Ray can be seen in the upcoming PAM and TOMMY for Hulu, as well as GASLIT starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn for STARZ. Ray is best known from his work opposite Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in Paul Feig's buddy cop comedy THE HEAT.
MOM & DAD
The father, Hannah; strong and capable, will play catch with you and then explain how your body is changing. The mother, Ana; passionate, fierce, will talk you through a panic attack and rub your back. They embrace improv like you would a newborn child, because that's what it is; a delicate, curious new life being born on the stage each and every night. Sure, there will be spankings, but not without good reason. Whether you're a new parent, an old parent, or big fat baby-hating asshole, there's something for all in their narrative format. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll definitely learn something.
STEVE TREVINO
His relatable approach affirms his status as one of the country’s fastest-rising comics, viewed over 223 million times, selling out shows coast-to-coast, amassing over 2 million total social media followers, and headlining specials for Amazon, NETFLIX, Showtime, and more.
Steve Trevino’s first Showtime special, Grandpa Joe’s Son, staked out a spot in the Nielsen Top 20. He produced his 2014 runaway NETFLIX hit Relatable. His clip “When Your Wife Comes Home From Shopping.” generated 56 million views on Facebook alone. It has helped him build a worldwide fanbase amassing 4.8 million likes and over 50 million views on the platform.
NATE JACKSON
Nate Jackson is currently recurring on the upcoming NBC series THE YOUNG ROCK. He has appeared on Nick Cannon Presents Wild'N Out (MTV), All Def Comedy (HBO), Kevin Hart’s Hart of the City (Comedy Central), Off The Chain (Bounce TV), Comic View (BET), and Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks (TruTV). In 2019 Nate was named to the Time Out LA Top 10 Comedians to Watch List. In 2018 Nate recorded a set for Kevin Hart’s LOL Live in Montreal at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. In 2017 he was a writer for Leslie Jones at the BET Awards and had just finished working as a consulting producer for the upcoming season of Wild’N Out.
BEST OF ATLANTA COMEDY
All shows at Laughing Skull Lounge are Best of Atlanta Comedy where you will see 8 comedians doing their best for 10 minutes. Which means, if you do not like the comedian on stage, don’t worry, they’re almost done. BUT… you will like these comedians. We only select the best comedians in Atlanta PLUS surprise guests! There is not much stage time these days, so any celebrity comedians in town will probably show up to one of these shows
